Production Process

With an Eyeline producer and client working as a team every step of the way, everything falls easily into place and the outcome is a very powerful sales, training or motivational video that will quickly pay for itself many times over.

Our vast experience will ensure that the process will go smoothly, staying on time and budget, the client must be an informed partner in the video production. Your input and approval is sought at each stage before we proceed to the next step. The key steps of the process are indicated below.

 PRE-PRODUCTION:

Define the Purpose
It is crucial for effective communication to clarity the purpose. Your video should be created to convey one single message, promote a single product or service, or express one singular goal or intent. All our successful videos are the ones that are kept simple and limited to a solitary goal or intent. A muddled, confusing  video will leave the audience with the wrong messages.

Identify the Target Audience

It is important that we must know exactly who the video is aimed at, who are we trying to reach? Clients or employees? Management or general staff? What is the target age group and social economic background? Once identified we can then determine the visual style, pace and music that motivates that particular  group.

 Develop an Outline
An outline will incorporate the essential ideas and message that the video will communicate. An outline can be developed by our talented and experienced team at Eyeline Productions or your designated member of staff. You will be able to peruse the outline and suggest any modifications or additions. It is an opportunity to distribute the outline to those who can offer a valid input to the video. It is advisable that as many changes and suggestions be incorporated at this stage as later revisions can be costly.

Create the Script:
Once approved, the outline will form the basis of the script or in depth proposal. From this our in-house team will create a dynamic shooting script. This combined with a storyboard will give a very precise portrayal of the finished video. The written description will visualise the message you are conveying  in the video.

Additional Pre-Production Factors:
In consultation with your self  a shooting schedule will be determined. Including any auditions, hiring of actors or appointing your staff who will be participating, rehearsals, hire of studios, designing and building of sets, location scouting and securing props.

PRODUCTION:

Shoot Day:
The Eyeline crew will arrive at the scheduled "call time" and location. We will identify an easily accessible "stash area" for equipment props and personal belongings. Ideally this should be a locked or secure area. Due to overtime regulations the crew will endeavour to work for a maximum of ten hours per day. A lunch break will comprise of thirty minutes to an hour .

The first scene tends to take some time to shoot but once most of the equipment is setup in particular lights, subsequent scenes will flow smoothly thereafter. We tend to work efficiently professionally and precisely, never compromising quality but always sticking to the shot list and daily schedule.

It is always helpful to have your authorised representative available on set throughout the shoot to assist in scheduling, availability and arranging locations, co-operation and personnel. The additional benefit is that they can monitor the shoot and ensure that no discrepancies occur.

Sometimes it is beneficial to have existing employees and management endorse the benefits of your product or service and we will make this seem as natural as possible by utilising a teleprompter or cue cards.

POST PRODUCTION:

Reviewing & Logging Footage:
The Eyeline producer reviews the footage (rushes) to make sure we have filmed everything that was required.

Off Line Edit:
We will first undertake a very rough assembly of the footage without  effects, music, colour grading or graphics. Clients sometime wish to see this rough edit so that they can make suggestions. The Off Line Edit allows for creativity, saves money in the long run and avoids delays.

On Line Edit:

This stage enables the final polish to the production. Again sometimes clients do sit in on this final stage of the editing. However as is more the norm we tend to send clients a completed preview copy on DVD which they can review at leisure and provide feedback and notes to. We will complete the video with where appropriate 3D animation,  graphics, effects acknowledgements and music. We will provide a video master and copies as requested.
